Convergence
This painting depicts the convergence of multiple landscapes into one omnipresent singularity.
Three of the panels depict board games that originated in India. The top left panel is an extension of another adjacent painting. The one below that is a chessboard with two knights standing in each others' attack squares. Below the chessboard is the historic version of what we know today as snakes and ladders, a game which symbolizes the journey of a person from birth to dissolution into the ultimate. The ladders represent our virtues, while the snakes represent our vices.
On the bottom right is carrom, a game I enjoyed playing as a child. Above the carrom board is our planet in the solar system to give some perspective. On the top right is a panel containing numbers written in one of the oldest numeric scripts which show the use of the concept of zero. And on the left of that is a tree depicting the foundational aspect of being i.e. its roots reaching out farther and wider than its actual branches.
