ABSTRACT STORY

The butterfly is a symbol of change and breakthrough. Initially a caterpillar, it goes through a metamorphosis and breaks from the inside of its cocoon, coming out a beautiful and magnificent creature with new abilities.

If one aids the effort of the butterfly while it is trying to break out of its cocoon, it actually contributes to weakening the butterfly. The strength that it musters to break through is what enables it to live and fly.

Helping is good, but if help causes the crippling of an individual and stunts their growth, it is not help. It is destruction.

I textured the canvas using gesso before painting.
