ABSTRACT STORY

Before making this piece, I painted a portrait of a Plague Doctor titled 'The Cure' and a cloudy landscape with a scarecrow in it titled 'Desolate. I hung those paintings together and watching them side by side gave me the idea for this one.

This painting depicts a scarecrow wearing a mask worn by doctors in the 17th century during the Bubonic Plague. I textured the canvas using gesso before painting.
