This painting depicts a Peepal (Fig) plant. My mother runs a salon, and a Peepal plant began growing outside her salon area. I took as picture of it and used it as reference for this painting.

Peepal is considered to be an auspicious tree in many cultures. It is said that the Buddha attained enlightenment while meditating under a Peepal tree. A few cultures also associate the fig tree with ghosts and spirits.

I textured the canvas using gesso before painting.
