Bishop Crawford

This portrait depicts a camel as a medieval bishop.

When I was introduced to the game of chess, I immediately recognized the knight piece as a horse and asked which animals the other pieces were. I was told that the bishop piece was a camel (and the rook was an elephant). I am not aware of the actual history behind the pieces, but I continued calling them camel and elephant as I grew up.
